In December 2023, the “NEED – News Literacy on Board” project team had an important first meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria. Hosted by Nikanor Ltd, the project coordinator, this was the first time all the project partners had come together since the project started in October. The meeting occurred on December 6, a special day in Bulgaria known as St. Nicholas Day. The partners got to experience Bulgarian culture, enjoy traditional food and learn about the holiday’s history and tradition.
During this meeting, the team covered all critical aspects of the project. The partners deliberated on project management strategies, identified necessary activities, and addressed potential challenges or modifications. They also explored methods for reporting progress, monitoring advancements, and disseminating project information to a wider audience.
The partners are focused on creating new ways to help teachers and educators teach adults about news literacy and critical thinking. The main goal is to make learning about these topics fun and engaging using games. The team is working on creating a board game and an online platform that will offer personalized learning experiences. These tools are meant to make it easier for adults to understand and evaluate information.
Looking ahead, the partners are excited to announce a special training event for educators. This training will teach them to make educational board games and use game-based learning with adults. It’s scheduled for March 20-22, 2024, in Žalec, Slovenia, and the project will cover all the costs.
